Attestia is a decentralized protocol for verifying the authenticity of digital media such as images, videos, and audio. It addresses a growing problem: AI-generated content is becoming increasingly realistic, while most verification systems remain centralized, opaque, and hard to audit.

The protocol works by creating an open verification market. Contributors, such as newsrooms, social platforms, legal teams, or individuals, submit media for verification. Independent verifiers then analyze the content using their own methods, including AI detection models, forensic tools, metadata analysis, or human expertise. Each verifier submits an authenticity score, which is aggregated into a consensus result.
